At North Miami Auto Repair we recommend changing belts and hoses every 5 years or 60,000 miles. We also recommend that belts and hoses should be checked at each oil change for wear and tear. Considering how inexpensive they are to replace it is foolish to get stranded because of a broken belt or hose.

Do I have to take my new car to the dealer for service?

Absolutely not! There are many laws specifically prohibiting automobile dealers from suggesting or implying that you must return to them for service in order keep your manufacturer warranty. Any qualified independent repair facility can maintain your new vehicle, and your warranty will remain valid. If you’ve been a long-time customer of a particular shop, and if you’re happy and comfortable with the service they provide, then keep going to them. If they spot any problems that should be covered under manufacturer warranty, they will let you know so you can return to your dealer for warranty repairs.

When driving in Miami Florida your tires should be rotated every other oil change, or every 6000 to 8000 miles. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear in Miami Fl.

Miami Oil Change – Should I consider using synthetic oil in my vehicle?

Because of the hot weather in Miami Florida, synthetic motor oils can be a good choice especially for high output, turbocharged or supercharged engines. Or for vehicles that are used for towing (especially during hot weather).

How can I improve fuel milage?

Aventura Auto AC repair can help you increase fuel mileage.

    • Improving fuel efficiency in this day and age is a must
    • Check tire pressure, under inflated tires increase rolling resistance, thus working the engine harder
    • Change air filter – dirty air filter may restrict power and hurt fuel mileage
    • Replace spark plugs – Worn spark plugs won’t ignite fuel properly, leading to unburned fuel exiting the exhaust
    • Check O2 sensors –  faulty or worn oxygen sensor may be unable to adjust air/fuel mixture
    • Check for leaks – loose gas cap or a leak in the Evaporative Emissions System may cause fuel to evaporate before even reaching the engine

What things can be done to prepare my vehicle for summer?

Have your vehicle’s cooling system inspected. This includes the radiator, water pump, belts and hoses. A leak or restriction can lead to costly repairs that may have been avoidable and that cause extreme inconvenience. Your vehicles tires and alignment should be inspected. Pressure, tread depth and proper wear are keys to maximizing the performance of your tires. A vehicle that is out of alignment will prematurely wear tires. The steering and suspension should be inspected. Ball joints, steering components and shocks/struts are all prone to failure during the “pothole” season prior to summer. A grease, oil and filter change should be performed. Lights, belts, hoses, wipers and washers should be inspected. If your air conditioning system is not working well, have a service performed. All components will be checked for leaks and functionality.

Will I get an estimate before any car repairs are performed on my vehicle?

Absolutely. We communicate with you throughout all car repairs and get you’re your authorization before any repairs are performed so you won’t get a surprise bill. We make sure you know before you owe!

Always. Just let us know in advance and we will be happy to save the parts the old parts for your inspection. If you would like to keep the old parts you are welcome to do that also.

Please be aware that in some cases miami auto parts stores will charge us a “core charge” on some parts like alternators and batteries and that we will have to pass those charges on if you decide to keep the old part.

Are your mechanics ASE Certified?

Consumers benefit from ASE’s certification program since it takes much of the guesswork out of finding a competent technician. Perhaps years ago, any shade-tree mechanic would do; after all, cars were simpler, less complex. But with today’s high-tech vehicles, the margin for error is less. Mistakes can be costly. It makes good financial sense to protect your automotive investment through regular, periodic maintenance and service performed by certified professionals.

Because ASE’s program is voluntary, technicians who have taken the time and expense to earn ASE certification can be counted on to have a strong sense of pride in accomplishment, which should be good news for consumers. Moreover, prior to taking ASE exams, many technicians attend training classes or study after work. The time they spend sharpening their skills should be advantageous to consumers as well.

Why is my engine oil a milky brown color?

Milky brown or milkshake consistency engine oil is an indication of coolant or water in the oil.  This can be caused by a blown head gasket (or other gasket), a failed transmission cooler, or cracked casings.  This condition is very serious and can cause severe engine damage.  It needs to be checked by a professional technician immediately.

What should I do if my car overheats in Aventura Florida?

This is a very serious problem and many people destroy their engine because they do not treat this as a serious problem. If your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine.

As soon as possible,  put your heater on hot and high fan, then find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off!

Do not attempt to remove the radiator cap; the hot fluid can cause severe burns.   The best thing to do is have your car towed to the nearest, trusted auto repair facility.

Is it important to replace my timing belt at the recommended mileage?

YES, this is important. The failure of a timing belt in many cars can result in major engine damage that can be very costly to repair. The cost of repairing an engine with a broken timing belt is much greater than the cost of a timing belt replacement.
